ICON Dolby Integration
The following set of drawings, co-developed by Dolby Production Services (UK), Dolby Broadcast Field Services (US) and Digidesign, are intended to help you correctly integrate the included Dolby and Digidesign products. In all configurations, program material is assumed to be created in Pro Tools with the final mixed multi-channel output delivered to the top of a Dolby encoding, recording and playback chain.
ICON Dolby Integration for Broadcast |
Currently approved systems and delivery formats include:
- Dolby Digital (AC-3)
- Dolby Pro Logic
- Dolby Pro Logic II
- Dolby E
Employing the listed configurations as shown will enable you to successfully deliver Dolby-encoded program material created in a Digidesign® ICON system.
Programs are mixed in the desired multi-channel format in Pro Tools and delivered via digital connections to the appropriate Dolby chain with the DP570 Multichannel Audio Tool, which is used to emulate the effects of metadata on the encoded program and resulting downmixes. The DP570 provides a method for predicting the behavior of the audio program in a consumer's environment.
Also included is a suggested Pro Tools® session routing scheme that enables you to record and monitor individual stems and the final multi-channel mix from within the Pro Tools environment.
These integration plans are designed to assist in the assembly and connection of the equipment for post production for broadcast and DVD-related encoding. Complete certification of studios, required for feature film work and other licensed applications, must be achieved through the appropriate channels at Dolby.
