About Pro Tools M-Powered Software
  • A qualified M-Audio hardware interface is required to use Pro Tools M-Powered software
  • The M-Audio interface must be connected to your computer to use Pro Tools M-Powered software
  • Pro Tools M-Powered supports the use of any single supported M-Audio peripheral. Simultaneous use of multiple M-Audio peripherals is not supported.
  • Other audio interfaces from M-Audio have not been qualified with M-Powered
  • Audio interfaces by Digidesign or any manufacturer other than M-Audio will not work with Pro Tools M-Powered software
  • Pro Tools M-Powered software allows a maximum of 18 audio inputs and outputs, depending on your audio interface I/O capability

FAT32 Drive Information



FAT32 Volumes Not Supported for Recording with Pro Tools 7.4 and Higher for Windows
  • Pro Tools 7.3.x is the last version of Pro Tools that supports FAT32 for Recording.
  • Pro Tools 7.4 and higher for Windows XP and Windows Vista do not support FAT32 for recording, but will continue to support FAT32 formatted volumes for Playback and Transfer.

Windows Vista Now Supported with Pro Tools LE 7.4 & Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4
Digidesign strives to support a wide variety of host computers and operating systems with our Pro Tools® product line, and we’re excited to support Windows Vista (32-bit) Ultimate and Business operating systems with Pro Tools LE® 7.4 and Pro Tools M-Powered™ 7.4 software.

    • Although Windows Vista Home and Home Premium Edition have not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, there are currently no known issues with Vista Home and Home Premium 32-bit operating systems and Pro Tools 7.4 compared to the supported Windows Vista Business or Ultimate Edition operating systems.

Pro Tools M-Powered & Vista 64-bit Systems
Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.1 has been extensively evaluated on Microsoft's Vista 64-bit operating system by a select group of users in the Pro Tools community. To date, no major issues have been reported. While not officially supported, we believe customers can confidently use Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0.1 with Microsoft's Vista 64 operating system.

Please Note: Currently, there is no 64-bit support for Pro Tools LE or HD devices. A Windows XP or Vista 32-bit operating system is required to use Pro Tools LE or Pro Tools|HD audio interfaces.

Windows Vista SP1
There are currently no known issues with Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista based on our initial limited testing and customer feedback. Although full qualification with all Digidesign products has not been completed, we do not recommend against updating to SP1, given the number of important overall system fixes in SP1. We do recommend that you backup your system and create a restore point before updating to SP1, should you encounter any problems after installing the update.

Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.1 and Earlier Versions Require Windows XP
If you are purchasing a new Windows computer and need to use Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.1 or any earlier version of Pro Tools M-Powered, check to see if the manufacturer offers the option to configure with Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional preinstalled. If that is not an option, the following article offers some suggestions:

  • Pro Tools M-Powered 8 systems on Windows XP require Windows XP Service Pack 3
  • Windows XP Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 not tested

  • Pro Tools M-Powered 7 systems on Windows XP require Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3
  • Windows XP Service Pack 1 not tested

Windows XP Service Pack 3
April 23, 2008 — Digidesign has officially qualified Windows XP Service Pack 3 with all products listed as qualified with Windows XP Service Pack 2. There are currently no known compatibility differences between systems with XP SP2 or SP3. All compatibility information regarding Windows XP Service Pack 2 also applies to systems with Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Updates
  • The iLok license included with the original release of Pro Tools M-Powered authorizes Pro Tools M-Powered version 6.8, 7.0, and 7.1.x. Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1 is a free update for all Pro Tools M-Powered owners with the Pro Tools M-Powered 6.8/7.0/7.1 iLok authorization:

  • Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 was a paid upgrade from Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1.x and earlier

  • Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 was a paid upgrade from Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.x and earlier (see "Recent Purchases" below for exceptions)

  • Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0 is a paid upgrade from Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 and earlier (see "Recent Purchases" below for exceptions)

Upgrades
  • The current Pro Tools M-Powered upgrade is Pro Tools HD 8.0.x for Mac and Windows, available from the online store. For more information, see the following:

  • All paid upgrades are full installers that do not require previous installation of Pro Tools software. To upgrade from a previous version of Pro Tools M-Powered, it is only necessary to purchase the most recent upgrade.

Recent Purchases
  • If you’ve purchased and registered a new Pro Tools M-Powered full software package from an authorized Digidesign/M-Audio dealer or a purchased Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 software upgrade from Digidesign/M-Audio on or after October 3, 2008, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools M-Powered 8.0 software.

  • If you’ve purchased and registered a new Pro Tools M-Powered full software package or purchased Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3 software upgrade from Digidesign/M-Audio or an authorized Digidesign/M-Audio dealer between October 1, 2007 and October 2, 2008, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade to Pro Tools M-Powered 7.4 software.

  • Please make sure that you have registered your Pro Tools M-Powered full software package using the included online registration card to receive this special offer.
    • Qualifying Pro Tools M-Powered software upgrades are automatically registered when purchased on the DigiStore, or upon activation if the upgrade is purchased from an authorized Digidesign or M-Audio dealer.
    • Free "No Cost Updates" you may have already received do not qualify for an additional free upgrade to the next paid version (regardless of when you might have received the no cost update). Only the purchase of a new hardware system or purchased software upgrade would qualify as a recent purchase.

  • Registered owners that qualify should receive an email from Digidesign Customer Service with your Activation Code and details on how to activate and download your free upgrade. Except during peak periods (such as the when a new upgrade is first released), these emails normally go out within 24 hours of when you register your qualifying product.

  • You can return to your Pro Tools 8 downloads at any time after purchase and activation by logging into your My Digi account. Click on "View All Downloads" under "Registered Downloads" in your My Digi account AFTER activation has been completed.
