AudioGraph International Announces a Series of New Pro Tools Classes

06/12/06
(June 12, 2006) — AudioGraph International (AGI) is proud to announce that starting this summer, a series of new classes applied to Pro Tools 7 will be offered. These new courses include “Mixing with Pro Tools 7”, “MIDI in Pro Tools 7,” and “Digital Signal Processors Applied to Pro Tools 7.”

The idea of these series of new courses came about when José “Chilitos” Valenzuela (founder of AudioGraph International since 1993) noticed in the last few months an increased number of Pro Tools users’ e-mails and calls requesting more advanced and practical Pro Tools courses. “Most people who use Pro Tools can record and edit, but can they really mix or know how to use MIDI or plug-ins?” said Chilitos Valenzuela. “There is a great need for people to learn how to make their home or professional music productions sound better.”

These two-week/three hours per day classes (day time, evenings, or weekends) are complementary to the Pro Tools knowledge people already have acquired in a classroom or on the field. In these five student per class courses, students will have his/her own Pro Tools|HD station including a control surface, MIDI devices (hardware and software), and a good number of signal processors (hardware and software) to get used to mixing and automating audio and MIDI with faders. This gives them a good hands-on training experience when they get out working in the field, whether in a professional studio, on their own, or somebody else’s home studio.

In these courses we cover from “Designing the Mix” to the end product, which is an actual mix-down of a project using all the techniques and secrets learned in class; from the basic concepts of MIDI to a more advanced MIDI sequencing techniques; and from the most basic concepts of signal processors (EQs, compressors/limiters, delays, and reverbs) to their more advanced applications in a real mix-down project.

Most of the instructors for these courses are multi-Grammy award winning recording/mixing engineers. “I think this is the only way people can really learn – from real-world professionals,” said Valenzuela.

“Theses courses were designed based on our own personal experiences,” Chilitos adds. “But besides our personal experiences we also use other reference materials to teach the classes, including the ‘Mix It Like A Record’ DVD by Charles Dye and ‘The Basics of Modern Recording & Mixing’ DVD by Ken Walden for in-class and home practice assignments as well as a visual aid for those students who are more visual learners. In addition, we use two other source materials such as the Production Mixing Mastering with Waves textbook by Anthony Egizii and the Mixing Engineer’s Handbook by Bobby Owsinski.”

Offering these type of courses will give Pro Tools users and newcomers into the Pro Tools world an opportunity to make their musical projects sound like a pro,” concludes Mr. Valenzuela.
