(July 11, 2007) – Celemony Software GmbH is now shipping Version 1.8 of Melodyne essential. The update contains a new algorithm for percussive material, various improvements and bug fixes, as well as a new system of activation that is considerably easier to use. The update is free of charge and available for immediate download by registered users from the myCelemony section of the company's web site, www.celemony.com.

Percussive2, Version 1.8's new algorithm, is derived from the highly acclaimed flagship edition of the software, Melodyne studio, and offers in comparison with the previous percussive algorithm enormous improvements in terms of sound quality when working with drum loops, percussion tracks and other percussive material.

The playback algorithms together with the powerful audio detection process form the basis for the unique editing capabilities of Melodyne software, which is valued and used in professional productions worldwide. Both the detection and the playback algorithms are constantly being improved and further developed by Celemony. With Version 1.8, users of the free, bundled edition of the program, Melodyne essential, are also afforded access to the latest Celemony technology, which combines the highest sound quality with a remarkably musical and intuitive way of working.

Among the other new features of Melodyne essential 1.8 are the combined Scroll/Zoom bars familiar from Melodyne plugin, an alternative grey colour scheme for the user interface, as well as various improvements in the representation and handling of percussive material. The improved activation system makes activating Melodyne essential dead easy – online or offline – as well as offering users the option of removing the activation from one computer and transferring it to another.
