Audio Ease Releases Altiverb 6

TDM and Intel Mac support and a lot more

(January 18, 2006) — The most striking new feature of Altiverb 6 is support for Pro Tools TDM hardware on Mac OS X. For the first time Audio Ease's renowned library of impulse responses becomes available to the Pro Tools|HD Accel chips. Audio Ease’s new design of distributing tasks over chips have resulted in several breakthroughs. As a result Altiverb 6 can tie chips together to create up to 25 seconds of reverb, breaking the current three second convolution barrier on the TDM hardware. And for the first time it is possible to generate stereo reverb from a single chip, and over two seconds of it.

Altiverb 6 is the first Altiverb to run on Intel Macs. It features an improved user interface, an impulse response browser, adds 30 snapshot memories for automation total-recall and a wider set of automatable parameters than ever before.

Altiverb 6 Regular is the stereo, fully automatable RTAS and AudioSuite reverb, compatible up to and including 96 kHz sample rate. Altiverb 6 XL, the flagship product, adds Pro Tools TDM support, surround output up to 5.1, and sample rates over 96 kHz.

"Our TDM version took a year to complete, but it lives up to our standards, and we are very satisfied with it," says Arjen van der Schoot, co-owner of Audio Ease. "We set out to tackle the limitations currently in convolution reverb on TDM hardware, and I am happy with the way it worked out. At the same time we are of course aware that the ultimate quality lies in the diversity and sound of our samples, and therefore we have visited more cities and have released more Impulse Responses than usual. In this last quarter alone we have released two music clubs, three large indoor stadiums and Berlin's Kammermusiksaal. And there is a lot more to come as we are now processing samples made in concert halls, churches and operas of Toulouse, Amsterdam, Oslo and Stockholm as well as finalizing more airplanes, more outdoor samples and the spectacular Trakai castle in Lithuania. To show off our library we couldn't resist finally releasing a screensaver that displays hires interiors of our spaces and we have another goodie: you can now approach all venues in Google Earth right from the Altiverb 6 interface."
