DAE Error 6101 occurs immediately upon playback in a 48KHz 24 bit session when the H/W Buffer is set to 64 samples
This is a known issue in Pro Tools LE 8 (Mac OS X with PPC).

There is no workaround.

This does not occur on Intel-basedMacs. ページ表示

How to Get Apple Mac OS X 10.4 Upgrades & Updates

Compatibility Alert — Mac OS X 10.4.9

June 8, 2007 — Mac OS X 10.4.9 now qualified with Pro Tools 7.3.x
(Note: Pro Tools 7.4 is also qualified with Mac OS X 10.4.9)
If you choose to update to Mac OS X 10.4.9, or your Mac came with Mac OS X 10.4.9 preinstalled, please follow these instructions:
  • Do not use Apple's automatic Software Update or the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Delta Update. Instead, install the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update for Intel-based or PowerPC-based Macs:
  • If you have already updated using Software Update, you should download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update.
  • If your Mac came with Mac OS X 10.4.9 preinstalled, you should still download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update if you are experiencing issues such as Pro Tools not opening.
    • In some late 2007 Macs, such as iMac, MacBook, and MacBook Pro with the new Intel "Santa Rosa" chipset, you may not be able to apply the 10.4.9 Combo update to the existing 10.4.9 preinstallation.
    • If you are not able to run the Combo Update, please try the Mac OS X Prebinding Script below.
      -or-
    • Download and install the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)
    • Preliminary reports suggest that Mac OS X 10.4.11 may contain fixes for some of the Mbox 2 USB interface problems such as kernel panics on newer Intel-based Macs.
Please Note: As detailed below, Software Update should not be used to update your Mac OS, always use the Combo Update.

With Pro Tools and many other software applications, issues with a program not opening or crashing may have to do with prebinding that is not properly handled by using the automatic software update program, particularly programs such as Pro Tools that use PACE-protected software. Both PACE and Apple are aware of this issue and are working to provide updates to remedy the issue.

The following download from the PACE website may help without having to download the Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update, or in addition to the Combo Update. The included script resets the prebinding on your Mac OS X system:
For additional troubleshooting, you may need to delete corrupted Pro Tools preferences and database files. The Digidesign Tech Support Utility provides an easy to use program for this. This utility is included in the Tech Support Folder download available from the following page:
Mac OS X 10.4.10 (and Other Apple Software Updates) & Pro Tools Launch Failure/Bouncing Icon in Dock
Mac OS X 10.4.10 has not been tested or qualified by Digidesign, but the same launch failure issues can occur if you have updated to Mac OS X 10.4.10. Apple has posted the following information that updating to QuickTime 7.2 can also cause the pre-binding issue:

How should Sleep and Processor Performance be set on a G5? (performance optimizations)
Disable the "Put hard disk to sleep when possible" option and set Processor Performance to "Highest" (located under the Options Tab) in order to optimize Pro Tools performance on Mac OS X 10.4.

DAE error -6086, -6085 or -6093 (buffer errors) when playing back a session on a PowerMac G5 with Digi 002.
Problem was solved by connecting the Digi 002 to the front Firewire port on the Apple G5 computer.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to power down the Digi 002 before connecting it to the computer's Firewire port.

Please Note: Annecdotal evidence from different users suggests that this may not be true on all machines. The important thing to remember is that if you are experiencing the errors described when connected to a particular FireWire 400 port, try connecting using a different FireWire 400 port. Also, we have actually had opposite reports with Mac Pro's - performance seemed to be better on the rear Firewire Port of the Mac Pro. Answerbase 23590 ページ表示

Why is the Apple G5 second generation single 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5 (model M9555) NOT qualified with Pro Tools|HD or HD Accel systems?
Digidesign did not quality the 2nd generation Single 1.8 GHz Power Mac G5 (model M9555), because we were unable to achieve maximum tracks counts with this model computer. With the G5 model M9555 you should expect approximately 20% less track count than you would get using a FireWire Drive.

DAE error -9131 and -6093 when recording to a supported FireWire drive on a Mac G5 in OS 10.3.1 with a Digi 002 and Pro Tools LE 6.2.2.
Try plugging the FireWire drive into the FireWire port on the front of the Mac G5. Plug the Digi 002 into a FireWire port on the back of the G5.

This solution has been known to prevent these error messages for some customers running supported FireWire drives on a Mac G5 with Digi 002 or Digi 002 Racks.

Important Energy Saver Settings for Pro Tools 6.2.2 on OS X.
For optimal Pro Tools performance, you must set Processor Performance (located in System Preferences > Energy saver > Options) to Highest.
Apple's Mac OS help documentation provides the following info on Energy Saver Processor settings:
The PowerPC G5 processor in your Power Mac G5 can run at various speeds. The default setting for this feature is "automatic," which allows the system to run the processor at full speed when required, and at a lower speed during periods of light processing activity. Certain real-time applications, such as audio creation or gaming may perform optimally when using the highest processor performance setting. You can change the processor performance setting in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences.

On the Power Mac G5, there is a "metallic screeching" or "static" that varies in frequency with processor load.
In one case, installing Apple's CHUD tools and disabling the "Nap" feature eliminated this noise.
