How to install the Command|8 on Windows XP or Vista. |
On Windows XP:
Put in your Pro Tools LE disc and choose "Command8 Installer" and then "Command8 XP Setup" and complete the installation process.
If you've already installed this software on your computer but the Device Manager displays your Command|8 under "Other devices" with an "!" or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers as a USB device with an "!", do the following:
1. Right-click the Command8 or USB device "!" in the Device Manager and choose "Update driver ..."
2. Choose all of the last options through the Hardware Update Wizard
a. "Install from a list or specific location"
b. "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install."
3. Under "Show compatible hardware" select the "C8 Control Surface" (if you don't see this do the following a-c)
a. you may have to select Sound, Video and Game Controllers
b. then select "Focusrite" from the Manufacturor category
c. then select "C8 Control Surface" from the Model category
4. Select "Next >" to install it
5. Click "Yes" in the update driver Warning window, select "Continue Anyway" if prompted
6. Click "Finish"
7. Restart your computer when prompted to do so.
On Windows Vista:
Put in your Pro Tools LE disc and choose Additional Files > Unsupported Software > Command8 Vista Installer then "Command8 Vista Setup" and complete the installation process.
If you've already installed this software on your computer but the Device Manager displays your Command|8 under "Other devices" with an "!" or as an Unknown device with an "!", do the following:
1. Right-click the Command8 or Unknown device "!" in the Device Manager and choose "Update Driver Software ..."
2. Choose all of the last options through the Hardware Update Wizard
a. "Browse my computer for driver software"
b. "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
3. Under "Show compatible hardware" select the "Command|8" (if you don't see this do the following a-c)
a. you may have to select Sound, Video and Game Controllers
b. then select "Digidesign, Inc." from the Manufacturor category
c. then select "Command|8" from the Model category
4. Select "Next >" to install it
5. Click "Yes" in the update driver Warning window
6. Click "Close"
7. Restart your computer.
(note: the Command|8 is not officially supported on Windows Vista)
