Pro Tools installation hangs or locks up during installation of Mbox2 software on Win XP

The installation can be interrupted by background processes or services. Please disable these before installing Pro Tools.

To disable background services and processes:

1. Click on the Start menu, then click on 'Run'.
2. Type in 'msconfig' and click 'OK'
3. Click on the 'Startup' tab on the far right.
4. Click on the button in the lower right that says 'Disable All'
5. Click on the 'Services' tab, check the box at the bottom that says 'Hide All Microsoft Services', then click on the button in the lower right that says 'Disable All'.
6. Click 'Apply', then 'OK'. Close the window and restart your computer.

Once you restart, you will get a message saying you have used the system configuration utility - check the box that says 'Don't Remind Me', close the window and don't restart your computer.

You should now be able to install Pro Tools successfully.
