Data loss or corruption occurs after optimizing with Speed Disk 3.0.
The 9/12/94 issue of MacWeek reports that "Symantec Corp. announced last week that it has found a bug in the Speed Disk module of Norton Utilities for Mac 3.0 that can result in data loss." Speed Disk is a popular hard disk optimization utility among Pro Tools users. Norton Utilities version 3.0 has only been recently released with the inclusion of a new version of Speed Disk. If you have upgraded to 3.0, cease using Speed Disk immediately to prevent possible data loss. MacWeek also reports that (according to Symantec) less than 1 percent of users reported data loss and that all shipments of Norton Utilities for the Mac 3.0 have been halted.
