My McDSP Plug-Ins that I received with the MassivePack 3.0 bundle cannot authorize. They say "the inserted license card does not contain authorization" even though the cards have not been used.
To authorize these plug-ins, follow these steps:

1) Install the plug-in from the CD-ROM.
2) During installation, allow the plug-in to install authorization software (iLok drivers).
3) Launch Pro Tools.
4) Make sure that you still have the option to use the demo mode for these Plug-Ins! If the "Try" option is grayed out, authorization will need additional steps, please see below.
5) Choose "Authorize" and use the MassivePack license card as instructed.

Make sure that the demo period has NOT yet expired! If necessary, you should perform these steps on another computer. This will authorize your iLok, and you can use your iLok on any system. [Page View]

Getting unexplained blue screens, freezes or spontaneous reboots when launching Pro Tools with Windows XP Service Pack 2.
The current InterLok drivers solve problems without having to disable Microsoft's DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

When SP2 was released, very few pieces of hardware supported the hardware protections and we didn’t see any problems with Pro Tools. However, as new PCs are released more and more of them have this feature available. The bad news for us is that this feature is not compatible with Pro Tools, nor is it compatible with Pace (copy protection software).

The current InterLok drivers solve the described problems without having to disable Microsoft's DEP (Data Execution Prevention) feature introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Windows XP SP2 introduced some new “Data Execution Prevention” features that are designed to prevent certain types of malicious code attacks. There are two components to these news features: software protections and hardware protections. When SP2 was released, very few pieces of hardware supported the hardware protections and we didn’t see any problems with Pro Tools.

However, as new PCs are released more and more of them have this feature available. The bad news for us is that this feature is not compatible with Pro Tools, nor is it compatible with Pace. The end user experience is that you install Pro Tools on a new machine, you launch it, and the machine reboots. The solution is to disable the “Data Execution Protection” features.

I keep getting -9060 errors whenever I record. I already disabled journaling and turned off Nortons.
These errors where resolved in a couple of cases by going to:
MAC HD /Library /Startup items

and removing all except the DigidesignLoader and the PACE support folders. (ie..Norton Missed tasks ;Norton auto protect)

restart the computer

relaunch Pro Tools.

I have installed various BombFactory plug-ins to be used as demos. When I launch Pro Tools, I'm being asked to authorize them. Or, I'm being told I need a demo asset on my iLok.
You can use BombFactory v4.1.1 plug-ins in demo mode (30 days) as long as you already have an iLok and have registered it at www.ilok.com

To download various plug-ins, including BombFactory v4.1.1 plug-ins, go to:
http://www.digidesign.com/developers/plugin_info/

Here's How to get the demo assets for Bomb Factory plug-ins:
1) Launch Pro Tools.
2) As Pro Tools is launching, you will be asked to authorize a Bomb Factory plug-in, choose "Try".
4) Uncheck "Use License Card", click "Next"
5) Select "Internet Activation". "Manual Activation" doesn't do anything. You will be linked to the Digidesign Internet Activation page online where you will be required to log-in.
6) "Internet Activation" will bring up a window "Connecting to Server" If you have chosen to download a demo authorization, follow the prompts on the screen.
7) If you have chosen "Authorize" to purchase a plug-in, select Full License and click the "Buy Now" tab.
8) Follow the instruction for entering your shipping and credit card information.
9) Once the transaction is processed the demo or full license will be transferred directly to your iLok.

***Do this for each BombFactory plug-in.

Here's what one of the pages says during plug-in launch process: "If you have Internet access on this computer, you can instantly obtain a Demo Authorization or purchase a Web Authorization. To do so, connect to the Internet now. After you establish a connection, select Internet Activation and press Next."
See Abase # 28166 for more information.

My BombFactory 4.1 plug-ins are no longer authorizing with my iLok.
All Bomb Factory 4.1 plug-ins for Pro Tools 6.x on Mac OS X and Windows XP were inadvertently set to expire Saturday, July 17, 2004. Bomb Factory 4.1.1 plug-in updates rectify this condition, as they are not subject to an expiration date. (The lack of an expiration date is the only difference between 4.1 and 4.1.1 plug-in versions.) The 4.1.1 versions can be downloaded from the Digidesign website. [Page View]
