Can Command|8 and HUI (or another control surface) work together?

Can Command|8 and HUI (or another control surface) work together?
No, Command|8 must be the only MIDI control surface enabled within Pro Tools.

Command|8 may be used with non-MIDI control surfaces (D-Control, D-Command, ProControl or Control|24) with some limitations.

When used with Control|24, Command|8 faders overlap (i.e. duplicate) the left-most eight faders currently banked on Control|24.

MIDI I/O interface drops offline when using Pro Tools 6 and a HUI or other MIDI Control Surface.
There is an issue with Pro Tools 6 and using a HUI Control Surface connected up via a MIDI I/O. We are currently investigating this but it appears that the MIDI interface intermittently will drop off line and it will stop passing MIDI. This seems to happen when closing and reopening sessions or when you quit and relaunch Pro Tools.

You will have to hot swap the USB connection to the MIDI I/O to get it to come back online if this happens or restart the computer. [Page View]

How do I put the Tascam US-2400 into HUI Emulation mode.

How do I put the Tascam US-2400 into HUI Emulation mode.
To do this:
  • Plug in the US-2400 and turn the power off (the power light pulses slowly).
  • While holding down the SELECT and AUX 1 buttons, turn on the US-2400.
  • The AUX 1 button will flash to confirm that you're in HUI emulation mode. (You don't need to use this button combination every time you turn on the US-2400, just when you switch it to HUI emulation mode.)

Pro Tools does not recognize Mackie Control on launch
Mackie Control uses the HUI personality file to communicate with Pro Tools. In order for it to be recognized correctly you need to hold down the Channel Input 1 and 2 buttons when powering up the unit. You will have a menu selection for Mackie Control and HUI. Choose HUI for use with Pro Tools.

After installing my Pro Tools|HD system, my computer completely freezes at seemingly random times.
In one case, this behavior was caused when using a Panasonic DA7 as a MIDI Control Surface with Pro Tools (running in HUI emulation mode). Breaking communication between Pro Tools and the DA7 solved the problem. [Page View]

Are DigiLink Cables included with an HD1, HD2, or HD 3 system? Are DigiLink Cables included with a 192 I/O or 96 I/O?
Each HD core system (HD1, HD2, or HD3 ) comes with one 12' DigiLink cable, for the purpose of connecting a 192 I/O, 96i or 96 I/O to the HD Core Card. Each 192 I/O, 96i or 96 I/O comes with a 1.5' DigiLink cable, intended for chaining a second 192 I/O, 96i or 96 I/O to its Expansion Port. Given this, if you have three, five, or seven HD I/Os, you most likely will want to purchase an additional one, two, or three 12' (or longer) DigiLink cables respectively, to connect to HD Process or HD Accel Cards.
