How do I put the Tascam US-2400 into HUI Emulation mode.

How do I put the Tascam US-2400 into HUI Emulation mode.
To do this:
  • Plug in the US-2400 and turn the power off (the power light pulses slowly).
  • While holding down the SELECT and AUX 1 buttons, turn on the US-2400.
  • The AUX 1 button will flash to confirm that you're in HUI emulation mode. (You don't need to use this button combination every time you turn on the US-2400, just when you switch it to HUI emulation mode.)

To specify additional tokens should be allocated, create a text file called "TokenSizes.txt" and place it in the "Pro Tools" folder if on the Mac.

Here's how:

1) Make a text file using SimpleText (OS 9) or TextEdit (OS X) on the Mac. Name the text file: TokenSizes.txt. In OS X, when you try to save the file as a .txt file, you will get a message about not being able to save. Choose "Use Both".

2) In the text file you must type the following line:
Size:Count1 82:1000 and place this file into the Pro Tools folder.

3) For OS X, the Pro Tools folder is located: Mac Hard Drive > Applications > Digidesign > Pro Tools. For OS 9, the Pro Tools folder is located: Mac Hard Drive > Digidesign folder > Pro Tools folder. Place the text file in the Pro Tools folder.

This error message seems to come up when using control surfaces like a Motor Mix or a HUI.

The complete message that comes up in OS X, when saving a file as a .txt file says:
You cannot save this document with extension "txt" at th end of the name. The required extension is ".rtf". You can choose to use both, so that your files name ends in ."txt.rtf". (When saving as a Text Edit file)

I cannot get more than one Solo button selected on the Motor Mix when holding the Shift key.
With the Latch Solo Buttons preference disabled in the Pro Tools you cannot get more than one Solo button to activate on the Motor Mix when holding the Shift key on either the Motor Mix or Apple keyboard. The workaround is to hold either Shift key and use the mouse to select Solo in Pro Tools. This is seen with Pro Tools 5.x on OS 9 and Pro Tools 6.x on OS X.

Pro Tools version 6.0 loses communication with MIDI controllers HUI/MotorMix.
1) follow the installation instructions from the MIDI controllers guide. Configure HUI or Motor Mix in AMS then go to Setups/Peripherals/MIDI Controllers and choose HUI/MotorMix ( TYPE ) Receive from HUI/MotorMix Send to HUI/MotorMix then click OK.

2) Open a session and the faders are working but not the transport. Also a message on the HUI LCD "Pro Tools has a dialog on screen" but Pro Tools does not have a dialog on screen. Also reports that HUI/MotorMix just stop working all together.
You can get it working if you do the following:

1) Delete any HUI device in AMS and deselect HUI/MotorMix from the Peripherals MIDI controllers.

2) Disconnect the MIDI cables from MIDI interface. ( Optional ) and restart Pro Tools

3) Go to peripherals/MIDI controllers and select TYPE=HUI Receive from = (You should have an option for any open port on the installed MIDI interface, may be listed as Pre-defined) Then select that. Repeat for "Send To" Connect HUI MIDI in and out to the selected ports. Click "OK"

NOTICE: Do not create a device in AMS called HUI.
When I did this and tried to connect that way is when all the "issues" came up.
The Manual says that AMS needs to configured.

Happens with Pro Tools and Pro Tools LE ver 6.0 on OSX 10.2.3 and 10.2.4 [Page View]
