When looking at the pin-out diagrams for the XMON, I can't tell which signal paths are associated with which cable on my DigiSnake.
When looking at the tables top-down, the first path is cable 1 and the last is cable 8 going sequentially in between.

Do the analog DB-25 DigiSnakes for the 192 I/O use the same pinout as ...

Do the analog DB-25 DigiSnakes for the 192 I/O use the same pinout as Tascam DA-88 analog cables?
Yes. The pinouts are identical.

Make sure that the Tascam cables are actually ANALOG cables, as Tascam's DIGITAL format (TDIF) uses a different pinout altogether, as do AES cables and many other DB-25 snakes.

For pinout diagrams see the Digidesign 192 I/O User Guide:

What are the specifications for the screws on DigiSnake DB-25 connectors? Would these be the same screws for Tascam DB-25 cables?
The threads on our ProControl D-Sub connectors are standard American 4-40 thread. We use the same DB-25 connectors on the ProControl Control Surface and the Audio Interface 192 I/O.

The same connectors are also used by Fostex, and on older Tascam DA-88s. [Page View]

Didn't Digidesign already offer cable kits like the DigiSnake Kits?

Didn't Digidesign already offer cable kits like the DigiSnake Kits?
Yes, they were formerly known as the ProControl Cable Kit and Control|24 Cable Kit. We changed the name to DigiSnake Kits with the introduction of the individual DigiSnakes. Model numbers and pricing have not changed. We also added an all TRS version of the Control|24 DigiSnake Kit. [Page View]

What DigiSnakes does Digidesign offer?

What DigiSnakes does Digidesign offer?
DB25-XLR M+F AES/EBU Snake
  • DB25 to 4 XLR Male and 4 XLR Female.
  • Below 192 KHz, AES/EBU carries 2 channels per line, so this snake transmits 8 out and 8 in via the 8 XLR connectors.
  • At 192kHz sample rate, the 192 I/O is using dual wire transmission. This means the AES snake transmits 4 out and 4 in at 192 kHz. In this case, the connector labeled "output 1&2" is output 1, "output 3&4" is output 2, and so forth.
  • The 4 XLRF wire jackets are yellow; the 4 XLRM jackets are black, all with appropriate labeling..
  • Product MH080; Length: 12 feet.

DB25-XLRM Snake
  • DB25 to 8 XLR Male; Output snake.
  • Analog or digital.
  • Red jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling.
  • Product MH081; Length: 12 feet.

DB25-XLRF Snake
  • DB25 to 8 XLR Female; Input snake.
  • Analog or digital.
  • Blue jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling.
  • Product MH082; Length: 12 feet.

DB25-TRS Snake
  • DB25 to 8 balanced TRS connectors for audio input or output
  • Analog or digital.
  • Orange jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling.
  • Product MH083; Length: 12 feet.

DB25-DB25 Snake
  • DB25 to DB25, standard wiring.
  • White (12 foot) or green (25 foot) jackets on both ends.
  • Typically used for communication between any two standard - - - DB25-equipped devices; For example, PRE out to 192 I/O analog in.
  • Cannot be used for AES/EBU or TDIF digital dubbing. For TDIF dubbing, use the TDIF DigiSnake (below). For AES/EBU digital dubbing, use two AES/EBU DigiSnakes, connected end to end (XLR to XLR).
  • Product MH084; Length: 12 feet. Product MH085; Length: 25 feet.

DB25-DB25R ProControl Snake
  • DB25 to pin-reversed DB25.
  • This DigiSnake was developed specifically to compensate for the reversed pin outs on the ProControl. Typically used to connect the 192 I/O output to the audio input of the ProControl.
  • Purple jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling.
  • Product MH086; Length: 25 feet.

DB25-TS +4 dBu/-10 dBV Padded DigiSnake
  • Balanced +4 dBu DB25 to unbalanced -10 dBV TS snake.
  • This snake contains the appropriate padding circuit to reduce the 192 I/O's +4 dBu output signal down to -10 dBV.
  • For +4 dBu output only. Use any other input snake for return/input.
  • Grey jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling.
  • Product MH087; Length: 12 feet.

DB25-DB25 TDIF Only DigiSnake
  • TDIF Digital (dubbing) cable. Designed for digital TDIF transfers only.
  • Can only be used for TDIF to TDIF- i.e., Tascam MDM to 192 I/O TDIF connector.
  • Cannot be used for AES/EBU digital dubbing. For AES/EBU digital dubbing, use two AES/EBU DigiSnakes, connected end to end (XLR to XLR).
  • Brown jackets on both ends with appropriate labeling..
  • Product MH095; Length: 12 feet.
