| When launching Pro Tools 32T beta, the software quits and the following message is posted:"Pro Tools unexpectedly quit. Mac OS Type 2 error." |
In one case, the problem was caused due to a conflict with QuickTime Musical Instruments. Disabling QuickTime MI in the current OMS Studio Setup file solved the problem.

|
| Digi 002 faders reset (a.k.a. slam) down to -inf when a change is made to OMS Setup while Pro Tools LE is running. This occurs even if Digi 002's Fader Mute is engaged prior to launching OMS Setup. |
A new version of firmware fixes this issue. It is available from:
http://www.digidesign.com/download/digi002.html
Making changes to the OMS setup, i.e. define an instrument, delete a defined instrument, or change the icon of a defined instrument, can cause this fader behavior.

OMS must be setup to reflect which MIDI interface and MIDI controller you are using.
1) Install the Software for Native Instruments' Pro 52. Restart.
2) Launch Pro Tools and open a session.
3) Create a Stereo Aux. Input track. File Menu > New Track > Create a Stereo Aux. Input track > Create.
4) In the Mix Window, instantiate the Multi - Channel plug-in for Pro 52.
5) Create a MIDI track. File Menu > New Track > MIDI track > Create.
6) Set the output of the MIDI track to Digi 001 Pro 52, 1.
7) If you want to use more channels of the Pro 52, you will have to create another Stereo Aux. Input track and instantiate the Pro 52 plug-in on this aux track as well. Then create another MIDI track and select the output as: Digi 001 Pro 52, 2. And so on for more MIDI and Stereo Aux. Input tracks.
When the Pro 52 plug-in is instantiated on the Stereo Aux. Input track, the selection for Digi 001 Pro 52 will be available. If the Pro 52 plug-in is not instantiated on a Stereo Aux. Input track, there will not be a choice for the Digi 001 Pro 52 in the output of the MIDI track.

This can happen if OMS becomes corrupted. Reinstall OMS 2.3.8 from the Pro Tools installer CD and restart the Mac. Then go to System Folder > OMF Folder > OMS Preferences. Find the file "OMS Current State," put it in the trash, empty the trash.
If problems persist for Digi 001 users, find the file "Digi001OMSMidiDriver" in System Folder > OMF Folder and temporarily place it on the desktop while attempting to launch Pro Tools LE.

|
| Setup for syncing a 24-track analog tape machine to Pro Tools LE via a MOTU MTP AV for Mac. |
1. The MTPAV will convert SMPTE to MTC (MIDI Time code).
2. Follow MOTU Manual on this setup.
On the MTP AV
1. MTPAV clock must be set to internal.
2. Word clock out must be set to 1x. The Digi 001 does Not read Super Clock.
3. The MTPAV's MMC ID must match Pro Tools (#127)
FreeMIDI/OMS Studio Setup
1. Install OMS first
2. Install FreeMIDI, Clockworks, & the MTP Express Console (www.motu.com). Launch FreeMIDI and tell it to "use OMS" (or go to the preferences and select "OMS").
3. Launch OMS and make sure it recognizes the MTP AV as an interface.
4. Branching off the MTP AV create a device and set the correct manufacturer of MTR (Multi Track Recorder) and model.
5. Edit Menu > Preferences and uncheck all four Preferences > OK.
6. File Menu > Save and close OMS.
Pro Tools
1. Setups menu to peripherals:
- Synchronization: Device is Generic MTC reader, Port is MTPAV
- Machine Control: Enable and send to the MTPAV,mdm ID# 127
2. Windows menu: Show Session Setup. Set the sample and frame rates to match the MTR or MTPAV. Current time and session start time should match hours.
note: If you do not see "Current Time" then the timing information is not being sent from the MTP AV (check MIDI connections, FreeMIDI/OMS setup, Pro Tools settings or the MTP AV). When changing session start times you must press the enter key to complete the change in hour. If it prompts you to adjust the regions choose "Maintain Relative" position.
3. MIDI menu: Input devices. Ensure that the MTR and/or the MTP AV is checked.
4. Transport window: Put online (Operations menu: Online). The clock will flash blue.
5. Setups Menu: Preferences > Operations. Choose either record at ADAT lock or insertion/selection.
6. Drop the cursor (with the waveform tool) at a location in Pro Tools and press play on the transport window. Pro Tools should go into play mode and begin playback of the MTR.
-or-
7. Set (in the transport window) transport=MMC. The transport will now drive the MTR.
