| DAE error -1133 "Digidesign hardware is in use by another application" when launching Pro Tools on Mac OS 10.4 (Tiger). |
In one case this was caused by having the Polytec USB audio driver installed. Uninstalling the 3rd party application fixed the problem.
The installer/uninstaller may be downloaded here

|
| "Could not complete your request because bitvector::at index out of range" error (Mac) or Access Violation occurred" (Windows) when importing an OMF via Import Session Data. |
Known issue in Pro Tools LE 6.9. Does not occur in TDM.
Workaround: Rather than importing the OMF into an existing session, import into a new session by double-clicking on the OMF or choosing File>Open and navigating to the OMF. If you then need to merge the tracks into an existing session, use Import Session Data to point to the newly created Pro Tools session.

|
| Unmounting a removable drive from the workspace prevents subsequent drives from being mounted. |
Unmounting a removable drive from the workspace will prevent any subsequent drives from being mounted in the workspace, even though these subsequent drives will show up in the Finder. The workaround is to restart Pro Tools. After Pro Tools has launched, the drives will appear in the workspace.

|
| "Spotlight" and "Dashboard" remapping required for some Pro Tools keyboard shortcuts. |
Two key commands that Pro Tools uses to initiate recording are assigned to "Spotlight" and "Dashboard," two new features introduced in Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger"). In order to use these key commands for Pro Tools, the key commands for "Spotlight" and "Dashboard" must be remapped.
To remap Command+Space:
1) Open System Preferences.
2) Select Spotlight.
3) Turn off the Command+Space mapping by unchecking the checkbox for the Spotlight menu keyboard shortcut, or by clicking in the box and choosing a shortcut or your choice (be sure you do not choose a shortcut that Pro Tools is using).
To remap F12:
1) Open System Preferences.
2) Select Dashboard & Expose.
3) Select F12 from the menu next to the Dashboard item.
4) Choose another F key or select any combination of modifier keys and an F Key.

|
| With the introduction of Pro Tools 6.6 and 6.9 on OS X, users of some third party storage area networks (SAN) are no longer able to record or playback to SAN volumes from within Pro Tools. Specifically, with some SANs, it is not possible to designate a SAN volume as playback or record from the Workspace Browser. |
This problem affected only OS X versions of Pro Tools 6.6 and 6.9. (Pro Tools 6.7 on OS X was unaffected as are Windows XP versions.) Though third party SANs are not officially supported, this problem has now been solved, and the following releases will restore playback/record functionality with affected SANs:
- Pro Tools TDM 6.9.2 or Pro Tools LE 6.9.2 for OS X 10.4.x
- Pro Tools TDM 6.9.1 for OS X 10.3.8
- Pro Tools LE users on OS X 10.3.8 can either use Pro Tools LE 6.7 or upgrade to OS X 10.4 and use Pro Tools LE 6.9.2
(Note: Since third party SANs are not officially supported, Digidesign Customer Support will not be able to provide support for issues associated with SANs.)
The change in 6.9.1 and 6.9.2 does not resolve incompatibility with Appleās Xsan. Pro Tools is still incompatible with Xsan.
