The database file "/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/AIR/Content/air.db" ...

The database file "/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/AIR/Content/air.db" is invalid.
Also: It has to be recreated, but each time the user clicks "Yes", the message pops back up and won't go away.

The reason for this is the permissions for the AIR and/or content folder are set to “read only” so Structure won’t create a new database file

The solution is to make sure that all permissions for the AIR and the content folder are set to read & write.

This is located in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Air/content.

Structure and Goliath Installers Do Not Automatically Install Sample Content.
This is a known issue in Pro Tools HD, LE & M-Powered 7.4.2 (Mac OS X 10.5.3).

The installers for Structure and Goliath do not automatically install their sample content. You must manually copy the sample content from the installer DVDs to your hard drive.

To install Structure sample content:

1) Run the Structure installer.

2) After Structure is installed, manually copy the folder “Samples DVD 1” from the Structure DVD1 installer disc to the following location on your hard drive:

/Structure/Structure Factory Libraries/Structure Encrypted Samples

3) Insert the remaining installer discs to your computer and manually copy the “Samples DVD” folders on each disc to the Structure Encrypted Samples folder on your hard drive.

To install Goliath sample content:

1) Ensure that Structure is already installed.

2) Run the Goliath installer.

3) After running the Goliath, manually copy the folder “Samples DVD 01” from the Structure DVD1 installer disc to the following location on your hard drive:

/Goliath - Structure Edition/Samples

4) Insert the remaining installer discs to your computer and manually copy the “Samples DVD” folders on each disc to the Samples folder on your hard drive.

How do you map MIDI CC (continuous controller) messages to the Global FX in Structure?
If you have Structure or Structure LE instantiated in a session, you can choose 'Structure 1 Send Effects' from the MIDI output selector on the corresponding MIDI or instrument track.

The MIDI channels 1-5 control the four send and one output effect channels, respectively.

I am upgrading from Structure Free to either Structure or Structure LE. Do I need to uninstall Structure Free?
Yes, it is a good idea to fully uninstall Structure Free before installing Structure or Structure LE. The following procedure will help to insure a problem-free upgrade:

1) Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-ins and drag the 'Structure.dpm' file to the trash. This is the actual Structure Free plug-in.

2) Next, go to Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Digidesign and drag the folder called 'AIR' to the trash. This folder contains all of Structure Free's favorites and effects parts.

3) Next, go to Macintosh HD/Users/Home(house icon with your user name)/Library/Preferences and drag 'com.digidesign.Structure.plist' to the trash. This is a preference file.

4) Then go to Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences. There may be another file here called com.digidesign.Structure.plist. If it is there, drag it to the trash. If not, skip this step. This is just another preference file.

All of these files will be re-written once you have installed and used the upgrade for the first time.

There is also a 'Structure' folder in Macintosh HD/Applications/Digidesign. There is no need to delete this folder as this contains Structure Free's installed content. You will still be able to access this content with Structure or Structure LE once installed, so you can leave that folder in place.

You are now ready to install either the full version of Structure or Structure LE.

Cannot map zone parameters to MIDI CC messages in Structure.
Individual zone parameters within Structure's integrated Sample editor can not be mapped to MIDI CC (continuous controller) messages. Only patch and part parameters may be controlled by MIDI.

Structure has no effects. Cannot add effects parts to a patch, and no effects are available in the Global Effects Page in Mac OS X.
This can occur if you have previously installed Structure free, and then installed Structure or Structure LE without removing all previously installed components.

Structure's effects parts are located:
Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Library/ApplicationSupport/Digidesign/AIR/Structure/Settings.

Typically, if you cannot access the effects within Structure, the permissions on one or more of these folders will be incorrect. Make sure that the permissions are set to Read and Write for each of these folders. Usually, the folder will have a red mark on the icon if the permissions are incorrect.

You may also simply navigate to Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Digidesign, drag the AIR folder to the trash, and then reinstall the Structure plug-in. [Page View]

How to move your Structure Factory content.

How to move your Structure Factory content.
The Structure Plug-in guide states the following:

To allow Structure to find the samples belonging to the factory library patches, do not separate the folder named Structure Encrypted Samples and the Patch folder named Structure Factory Libraries. Structure will find and load its relevant samples on any drive as long as the folder layout is intact.

It has been found that this is not always ideal, and moving the folder containing the patches to a location other than the default can cause difficulties later on.

If you do choose to move your factory content, it is usually more effective to leave the actual 'Structure Factory Libraries' folder in it's default install location, and instead only move the 'Structure Encrypted Samples' folder to whatever location you choose.

To point Structure to the new location after moving the 'Structure Encrypted Samples' folder:

1 Go to Structure’s Setup page, select the
Content tab.

2 In the Content Search Folders section, type in
the new path of the Structure Factory Libraries
folder.

3 Click Search Now.

Leaving the Structure patches in the default location and only moving the samples themselves should keep the database and favorites intact.

The same procedure here can be applied to the additional content such as Goliath. In most cases, it is best to only move the Samples folders and leave the patches in their default install location.

How to add a file or folder to the "Favorites" in Structure on Mac OS ...

How to add a file or folder to the "Favorites" in Structure on Mac OS X.
If you move your factory libraries after installation, it will be necessary to add the new location to your Favorites so that you can have easy access to the patches by clicking "Add Patch" in the Structure plug-in. To do this, follow these steps:

1) Once you have moved your factory libraries, open Structure's browser page and navigate to the new location of the folder containing the patches.

2) You will need to navigate to the interior of the folder you wish to add, so that you can see the full path of the patch folder at the top of the browser window, and see all of the individual patch category folders in the browser.

-For example, if you are trying to add the Structure Factory Library patches, the path displayed at the top of the browser window when you go to the next step should end in /Structure/Structure Factory Libraries. If you are trying to add the Goliath patches to your favorites, you will need to see /Goliath - Structure Edition/Programs at the end of the path.

3) Now click the "Add to Favorites" button. It is the + sign at the top of the browser window. This will open a dialog that should point to the favorites folder by default, so at this point you just need to give this favorite a name (i.e. Structure Factory Patches or Goliath Patches) and click "Save".

You will now have access to all the patch categories and patches contained within from the "Add Patch" selection in the patch list menu.

Another method for adding a folder to Favorites is to create an alias for the folder you wish to add, and drag it in to Structure's "Favorites" folder using the Finder. The "Favorites" folder is located in /Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/AIR/Structure/ by default. You can drag an alias that points to the folder you wish to add here, and it will appear in the "Add Patch" list in Structure.
