What is the difference between Bomb Factory legacy and current version of plug-ins and authorizations?
We have generated new auths for BF plugs so that there is one auth for each plug. BF legacy plugs actually bundled plugs to one auth, and this gave us less flexibility than we wanted. Currently that is the only difference between legacy and current BF plugs. In the future the new BF versions will contain additional features (ICON mapping, ect.) and some bug fixes, but right now they are all the same.

Which Bomb Factory Classic Compressors am I entitled to? I purchased ...

Which Bomb Factory Classic Compressors am I entitled to? I purchased Classic Compressors directly from bombfactory a while ago.
The previous "Classic Compressors bundle" was available from Bomb Factory and included these plug-ins:
  • LA-2A
  • 1176
The BF-76 plug-in (newer version of the 1176) is part of the Free Bomb Factory Plug-Ins

The BF-2A plug-in (newer version of the LA-2A) is a free upgrade for all registered Bomb Factory Classic Compressors version 1, 2, and 3HD owners that are also registered for Pro Tools 6 and higher.

It’s certainly a bit confusing because many of the names are similar, but here are the details...

The currently shipping "Digidesign/Bomb Factory Classic Compressors bundle" is not the same as the previous "Bomb Factory Classic Compressors bundle".
There are a number of different Bomb Factory plug-ins that have the title “Classic Compressors”, this list shows all of them:
  • LA-2A (now named BF-2A)
  • LA-3A (now named BF-3A)
  • 1176 (now named BF-76)
  • Purple Audio MC77
These plug-ins are not sold together as one bundle.

The current bundle named Bomb Factory Classic Compressors from Digidesign includes these plug-ins:
  • BF-2A
  • Purple Audio MC77
If you have not done so recently, it’s a good idea to update your iLok (InterLok) drivers to the latest version.

DAE -7059 error when instantiating a Bomb Factory BF76 plug-in in Pro Tools 6.3 or 6.4 TDM on Windows XP.
This is a known issue with BF76 version 4.0.1 on Windows XP TDM only. It will be resolved in a future release. RTAS and AudioSuite versions of Free Bomb Factory BF76 are not affected.

Also, reverting to BF76 version 4.0 resolves the issue. To revert, remove the 4.0.1 version of the BF76 plug-in from your Plug-Ins folder by dragging it to DAE\Plug-Ins (Unused). Drag and drop the 4.0 version into your DAE\Plug-Ins folder.

Check the Digidesign web site for updates to the BF76 plug-in (www.digidesign.com).

Users of all other Bomb Factory plug-ins should continue using versions 4.0.1 or higher on Pro Tools 6.3 TDM and higher on Windows XP.

Bomb Factory plug-ins cannot be moved.
On systems with HD Accel cards, you may experience difficulties at higher sampling rates when trying to force a Bomb Factory plug-in off an Accel DSP onto an HD Core or Process, in a situation where there should be ample DSP available on the Core or Process.

After updating to the latest Bomb Factory plug-ins (from a previous install of 3.70 or earlier) the old versions of many plug-ins are not removed, causing the plug-ins to show up twice.
This is a known issue. The problem is due to the fact that Bomb Factory originally used Trademark symbols in the names of the plug-ins, which were removed once Digidesign took over ownership of the plug-ins. This should be addressed in a future release.

Bomb Factory Plug-Ins that are set to Bypass become un-bypassed when output ...

Bomb Factory Plug-Ins that are set to Bypass become un-bypassed when output routing is changed or the order of the tracks is changed in the session.
This bug was discovered with the Bomb Factory Plug-Ins 3.7 on OS X and Windows XP with Pro Tools 6.2.2 and 6.2 TDM HD, but has been reproduced as far back as Pro Tools 5.3.1 TDM HD with BombFactory Plug-Ins version 3.0.1

An update to address this issue will be forthcoming.

To Reproduce:
1. Create 2 mono track
2. Import some known audio into track 1 (kick drum track ,etc)
3. Insert a LA2A, 1176, Fairchild, etc
4. Adjust settings so it is obvious that the plug in is working (via heavy compression, output, etc)
5. Bypass the plug in
6. Change the output of the 2nd track
OR
Move the mixer position of the track
7. Press Play
RESULT:
Track 1's plug in is now working, even though the Bypass button is still lit.

WORKAROUND:
Toggle the Bypass button to re bypass it

Repro'd w/ 1176, LA2A, and Fairchild. - assuming all BF plug ins may be affected.
