Where are the Pro Tools preference files located in Mac OS X?
Each User has their own set of Preferences located in their Home folder. If the User's Account Name is "Bob" then the files would be located in the following directory: /Users/bob/Library/Preferences/

The files in question are:
com.digidesign.protools.plist
DAE Prefs
DigiSetup.OSX
Pro Tools v6.0 Preferences

com.digidesign.protools.plist - saves information on various window settings (such as New Session, Save Session, Import Audio, etc...)
DAE Prefs - saves information on which plug-ins are installed
DigiSetup.OSX - saves information on what hardware is installed
Pro Tools v6.0 Preferences - saves basic Pro Tools settings

During installation of Pro Tools LE 5.3.1 "The driver installer could not find the driver Hardware" and then was not able to launch Pro Tools.
The solution is to move the Digi 001 PCI card to a different slot in the CPU and reinstall Pro Tools LE.

Here's how to do this:
1) Start Menu > Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Open Sound, video and game controller category > Right-click on Digidesign Digi 001 and choose Uninstall.
2) Start Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Select Digidesign Pro Tools LE v.3.5.1 > Remove. Completely remove Pro Tools.
3) Shut down computer. Open CPU and move the Digi 001 PCI card to a different slot. Close CPU. Restart computer.
4) When the computer reboots and the Add New Hardware Wizard appears, leave it on the desktop.
5) Start Menu > My Computer > Pro Tools CD > Pro Tools Installer folder > double-click on the Setup Icon and proceed with installing Pro Tools LE. Or install from the Pro Tools 5.3.1 download from the website.

After install of Pro Tools LE 6.0 (Mac OS 10.2.3) and launching Pro Tools LE for the first time, an error message appears: Unable to Create DAE Deck.
The Pro Tools LE 6.0 CD has software for both Digi 001 and Mbox systems. Some customers have inadvertently installed the Digi 001 software for Mbox or vice versa. The solution is to uninstall the Pro Tools software and then reinstall the right software for the Digidesign hardware you have.

Here's what to do:
1) Use the Pro Tools LE CD and uninstall all Pro Tools software. (Double-click on "Install Pro Tools LE" from the Pro Tools LE 6.0 CD. When it comes to the Custom Install page, click where it says "Custom Install" and Choose "Uninstall" instead. Proceed with uninstalling Pro Tools.)
2) Now, install only Pro Tools LE, either for Mbox or Digi 001. (Do not install Answerbase or DigiTranslator.) Restart.
3) Unplug any other peripherals connected to USB port.
4) Make sure Mbox is connected to USB port.
5) Launch Pro Tools LE. All should be fine.

If you still get the "Unable to Create DAE Deck" error message, download the firmware update Rev 20 from the Digidesign website and run it.
Here's where to download:
www.digidesign.com > Support > Downloads > Mbox (in Download Categories). Download Mbox Firmware Updater Rev 20 for OS X. Once downloaded and unstuffed, run the updater.

In one case, removing the Adaptec SCSI card resolved the issue.

I informed Bruce McPherson that a firmware update MAY resolve this. [Page View]
