| Crackles, pops, snaps or other distortion when playing back sessions on an Intel-based Mac. |
This can be caused by having EQ II or Dynamics II plug-ins installed or being used in the session. Those plug-ins are no longer supported as of Pro Tools 7.3. Uninstalling them and using EQ III and Dynamics III plug-ins instead should clear up the problem.
Here's how to uninstall EQ II and Dynamics II plug-ins on a Mac:
Quit out of Pro Tools. Go to: Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plug-Ins. Drag EQ II and Dynamics II files to the trash. Empty trash.

Pro Tools LE 7.3 with the Digidesign 003 and 003 Rack.
|
| Pro Tools LE 7.3 with the Digidesign 003 and 003 Rack. |
If you have downloaded Pro Tools LE 7.3 or installed it by any means other than the DVDs that come with the unit, then the 003 will not be recognized. This is because 7.3 was released before the 003, and the default installer doesn't install the proper drivers and controller personality.
To fix this issue, there are two options:
1) Install Pro Tools LE 7.3 from the DVD that came with the 003, or
2) Install the Pro Tools LE 7.3.1 and 7.3.1cs2 (or higher) updates - this should contain all the proper files for the 003.

Using the right directional button on the 003 causes the cursor to rewind ...
|
| Using the right directional button on the 003 causes the cursor to rewind to the beginning of the session. |
This occurs in Nudge or Bank mode and looks similar to page scrolling very quickly.
If "Link Timeline and Edit Selection" is enabled, the Pro Tools transport will rewind as well. If "Tab to Transient" is enabled, then the cursor will rewind by jumping to each transient, backwards through the session. If Play is pressed at any time, playback will start from the Playback Head Cursor, wherever it was when Play was pressed. Even though Pro Tools transport starts to move forward normally during Playback, the Timeline Insertion cursor still continues to move backward. If any window (Preferences, I/O Setups, etc) is opened, the window will be unresponsive to the mouse.
Workaround:
All of the above behavior can be resolved by hitting the Left button of the directional pad (until you hit the Right button again).
This problem has been fixed in Pro Tools 7.3.1cs4.
