|
| "Unable to create a DAE deck" when launching Pro Tools LE 5.0. |
This can happen if an older version of DAE and/or DSI is on the system prior to installing Pro Tools 5.0 LE.
In one case, the user had installed Sound Edit 16 which installed an older version of DSI (2.9.6) and after installing PT 5.0 LE it was not moved to the obsolete Digidesign folder. Disabling the old DSI fixed this problem.
Many applications that can use Digi hardware install a DSI in the system and should be the first thing checked when trouble shooting this error. Also, check hardware connections and card seating as possible other causes.
In most cases, the DAE playback buffer setting will reset itself to (0) which could be an indication of a problem.

Waves 2.8.1 Released for Pro Tools TDM Systems

| Waves 2.8.1 Released for Pro Tools TDM Systems |
December, 12 1999
Digidesign and Waves are pleased to announce that all compatibility issues between Digidesign and Waves products will be addressed by using the newly released Waves Waveshell 2.8.1 and Pro Tools 5.0
If there is a need to run Pro Tools 4.3.x please continue to use DAE version 3.4.2 f9 and the new KS Waves Waveshell version 2.8.1 and the 2.8.1 plug-ins. This will address DSP memory management problems that users of Pro Tools|24 MIX and Waves TDM Plug-Ins had been experiencing. Specifically, this will address the DAE memory overflow that may occur, typically in larger Pro Tools Sessions in which many Plug-Ins are instantiated, when a session is closed and reopened and DSP memory shuffling is performed. Please refer to the Waves 2.8.1 Release Notes for more information.
"The partnership between Digidesign and Waves is essential, since the Waveshell and Waves TDM Plug-Ins are a Development Partner solution of choice for so many Pro Tools Users," says Ed Gray, Manager of Digidesign's Developer Program. "It's gratifying to see Digidesign and Waves work to diagnose what proved to be a complex technical issue, and to quickly solicit testing and feedback from our mutual users."
Orly Nesher, Director of Sales & Marketing at Waves added, "We look forward to cooperating with Digidesign as our two high-end product lines continue to evolve and improve."
Waveshell 2.8.1 and their TDM updaters are available at www.waves.com
Note: When changing DAE/Waves versions, always trash the DAE Prefs folder (System Folder/Preferences) and the WaveShell-DAE Preferences file. (System Folder/Preferences/Waves Preferences)

|
| "Sadly this Plug-In is only compatible with AMII and 24|Project systems" then PT quits when launching Pro Tools LE for Digi 001. |
Installation occurred on top of a prior installation of Pro Tools for AMII or 24 systems. Thus the installer left the original Plug-Ins in the DAE Folder from that installation.
Trash the DAE Folder then reinstall Pro Tools LE.

What does DIGIMIDI.dll do and where does it reside
|
| What does DIGIMIDI.dll do and where does it reside |
DigiMIDI.dll handles the kinds of things that OMS takes care of on the Macintosh. It should be installed along with Pro Tools in the appropriate place, which would be in the same directory as other Digi DLLs like DAE.dll.

- Verify that the Digi 001 card is firmly seated in the PCI slot (it can easily pop out when snapping on the I/O connector cable if the user has not screwed in the card).
- Verify that the I/O cable is seated at both the card and Interface.
The red ADAT optical OUTPUT light (ADAT light pipe) gets its power from the PCI slot. If the card is not firmly seated, it will NOT be lit.
Running DigiTest verified that the card was not present. DigiTest did not see any card in the PCI slot but did see a SCII card (that was seated correctly). Also , as a quick check, if the card is seated correctly, the little red ADAT optical OUTPUT light will be lit.
