QuickTime movies do not play back on a Pro Tools system running AV Option ...

QuickTime movies do not play back on a Pro Tools system running AV Option XL 5.01. The movie window sticks on a single frame.
This is an incompatibility between the QuickTime codec and the XL Video Engine software. Remove the Video Engine folder from the DAE folder and relaunch Pro Tools.

You can use either QuickTime or AV Option XL, but not both at the same time. [Page View]

Can I use my Project PCI card in in my G4? I am running Pro Tools 5. and OS 9.
There is no engine for Project I in DAE 5.x. It is possible to run Pro Tools 4.3.1 with DAE 3.4.2cs1 with OS 9.x. Also, make sure the Project card is QC or QE rev for G4 hardware compatibility.

In using a 64-voice playback engine in Pro Tools 5.0.1, changing voice assignments from the A set to B set results in tracks not being heard and no meters showing up for those tracks.
This can occur if the DAE and Pro Tools memory minimum settings have been altered from the factory default.

Any value other than the default for memory minimum may cause program errors.

Reset the memory minimums for DAE and Pro Tools by getting info on the application icons, go to Memory, type zero in the minimum field and hit return.

DAE Playback Buffer Size repeatedly resets itself to zero.

DAE Playback Buffer Size repeatedly resets itself to zero.
Usually caused by DAE memory allocation being set inappropriately for the amount of RAM available in the system. Look there first.

May also be caused by DAE being unable to communicate with Digi hardware properly. Normal reseating and testing of cards may be appropriate, as well as trashing digidesign preferences (Digisetup, Pro Tools Prefs, DAE Prefs), replacing related apps, etc.

Change disk allocation to an unlocked/unrestricted volume.

Pro Tools crashes randomly with cards installed in the Magma 6 slot PCI-6DR chassis.
Swap the Magma and ATTO cards in the CPU. The Pro Tools 5.0.1 expanded system guide says to place the Magma card in slot 2 of the CPU, and the ATTO card in slot 4. Swapping these cards fixed the problem in one case.

Magma model PCI-6DR requires DAE/DSI 5.0.1 or higher

This was seen with a G4/450 single processor and a Mix Plus. [Page View]

Why when I launch Pro Tools am I getting the error(s) missing cfd.dll file or DAE.dll -1113 error?
These errors indicate that the wave driver was improperly installed or there is a driver conflict. Remove other drivers.

If this does not remedy the situation, remove the wave driver and re-install. You may need to re-install Pro Tools as well.
