What controller personality profile does the Yamaha Motiff 8 use for transport control within Pro Tools' peripherals, MIDI controllers option?
The Motiff 8 uses the CS-10, a legacy controller. For those using Pro Tools v6.4 or higher it may be necessary to download these legacy controller from our website.

Once the controller file is downloaded, you must manually install into the following locations:

DAE error -9073 with Mac OS X 10.4.2 using internal ATA drives.
Spotlight indexing can cause -9073 errors when it's updating it's indexes while recording or playing back a session. Performance in general will improve as well. To turn this off there are two methods, both require administrator permissions:

Manually:
    1) Start up the Terminal (/Applications/Utilities)
    2) Type "cd /etc" and press Enter
    3) Type "sudo pico hostconfig" and enter your password or press Enter - An editor will open with the following entry: SPOTLIGHT=-YES-
    4) Replace 'YES' with 'NO'
    5) press ctrl-x, then 'Y' and then press Enter
    6) Close the Terminal and restart the computer

Use Spotless:
  • Download Spotless
    2) Start up Spotless
    3) Wait 15 seconds and press 'not yet'
Indexing can now be turned off for each drive individually or you can press the 'Disable Spotlight Indexing' under 'Master Indexing Control' It's possibly best to disable indexing for each separate drive as well.
    4) Restart the computer
When the computer restarted you will notice the Spotlight icon at the top right of your screen turned into a red sign with a white cross.
Note: Only indexing will be disabled, you will still be able to search with Spotlight. [Page View]

Moving a session from Digi 001 Pro Tools LE v5.0 to Pro Tools HD v6.2.3 ...

Moving a session from Digi 001 Pro Tools LE v5.0 to Pro Tools HD v6.2.3 and opening the session results in a -199 error. The session was being copied to an Acom data FireWire drive.
In one instance, the FireWire drive was corrupting the Pro Tools session.

Note: Acom FireWire drives are not supported to use with Pro Tools as a playback drive because it does not have the Oxford 911 (FW 400) or 912 (FW 800) bridgechip, which is required for using FireWire drives. [Page View]

DAE Errors 9092, 9093, or 9094, 9129 on Windows XP systems with dual core processors.
These errors can be caused by problems with processor scheduling in dual core processors. The solution is to assign Pro Tools to run on a specific processor core.

To do this:

1. Launch Pro Tools, but do not create or open a session.

2. Right click on the Task Bar and select 'Task Manager'.

3. Click on the Processes tab, then right-click on ProToolsLE.exe and select 'Set Affinity' from the drop down menu.

4. Uncheck the box for CPU 0.

5. Click OK and close the Task Manager.

You will have to do this each time you launch Pro Tools unless you use and application like THG Task Assignment Tool.

More info on the THG Task Assignment Tool can be found here:

Can an older revision of Mojo (without the clock output) be used with ...

Can an older revision of Mojo (without the clock output) be used with Pro Tools and Media Station|PT?
Pro Tools is officially qualified with newer revision Mojo's only (those with clock outputs). To determine if your Mojo has a clock output, look at the left audio output and see if it also says, "Clk."

Avid Pro Tools LE requires that the clock output from Mojo be connected to the S/PDIF input of the Digi 002, and that clock reference in Pro Tools is set to S/PDIF. This is necessary so that the Digi 002 can lock to the same video reference signal that the Mojo is locked to.

Pro Tools TDM 6.6 and higher may launch and function properly with an older revision Mojo, however Media Station|PT 1.6.1 will not launch when an older Mojo is connected.
