make sure you are booting from a OS 9.x system folder, and you are not booting in OS X
trash DigiSetup
trash Pro Tools LE preferences
trash DAE prefs (entire folder)
empty trash and reboot.
at the time of this writing, eMac Macintosh models have not been tested or qualified for use with MBox.

Yes, the WaveDriver is now available for download from the Digidesign website as of 2/3/03.

This WaveDriver must be manually installed. Also download the Read Me and follow the directions for installing. The WaveDriver download file must be decompressed by using Winzip.

Make sure the full version of Windows XP Service Pack 1 is installed. This is required for using Pro Tools LE v.5.3.3. with Mbox.
Here's how to check this:
Click on Start Menu > Run > type in the field: winver > click OK. If that window says you have Service Pack 1, then the full version installed.
Otherwise, the full version of Service Pack 1 must be installed. Download it from the Microsoft website.

This is a known issue in Pro Tools LE 5.3.3 for windows.
Playback is not possible when there is missing audio in the audio bin. The audio shows up italicized meaning that the session is accounting for it but the actual file is not present. The workaround is to remove any italicized/missing audio from the audio bin.

It is recommended that you disable onboard audio & MIDI to avoid this problem.
To disable onboard audio & MIDI in Windows XP:
- Right-click My Computer and choose Manage.
- Under System Tools choose Device Manger.
- Double-click Sound, video and game controllers.
- Double click the icon for your computer's WDM audio device.
- At the bottom of the General Tab under the Device usage pulldown menu select Do not use this device (disable).
- Click OK and close the Computer Management windows.
