| Do the S/PDIF connectors on the 002 support 96 kHz? |
The optical connectors on the 002 support either 8 channels of ADAT I/O (up to 48 kHz) or 2 channels of Optical S/PDIF I/O (up to 96 kHz).
The BNC (RCA) connectors on the 002 support 2 channels of S/PDIF I/O, up to 24-bit, 96 kHz.

What is the phantom power current supply capability on the 002?
|
| What is the phantom power current supply capability on the 002? |
The maximum current per Mic channel is 14mA, so the total maximum current draw for the phantom power circuit is 56mA.
These values were determined by shorting pin 2 and pin 3 of each Mic connector to ground and then calculating the resultant current through the current limiting resistors on the XLR board.

| Pro Tools is unable to locate Digidesign hardware on launch of Pro Tools. |
In one case the user had renamed a Firewire drive "Digi 002".
Renaming the drive and restarting the computer solved the problem.

|
| Digi 002 intermittently freezes, all LED's go off and faders do not respond to movement of Pro Tools faders. The software does not recognize that there is a problem (no error message) and does not hang. Switching the 002 off and on again usually solves the problem, but this happens every 10 minutes or so. |
One user had an Apple iSight FireWire camera connected - when it was unplugged the problem was resolved.

|
| Are my Digidesign systems auto voltage switching? Can I take my Digi 002 to Europe if I purchased it in the USA? |
Yes, Digidesign systems (Digi 001, Digi 002, Mbox, Mix, and HD) are all auto voltage switching, with the exception of Control 24 (which may become auto voltage switching in the near future).
Consequently, it is possible to take a Digi 002, as an example, from the USA to Europe and use it without a voltage converter.

|
| Should I hook up my FireWire drives to the second FireWire port on the Digi 002? |
No. The second FireWire port on the Digi 002 is NOT intended for external hard drives or other storage devices, as this may result in unexpected behavior. It is recommended that Digi 002 be connected as the last device in the FireWire chain, or be connected to a dedicated FireWire port.
So why is there a second FireWire port on the Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack?
From the Getting Started with 002 Guide:
Connecting Other FireWire Devices to Digi 002
The second FireWire port on the Digi 002 unit is available for daisy-chaining FireWire devices such as digital cameras or digital video recorders. Even when it is powered off, Digi 002 supplies power from the computer through its FireWire ports, letting you recharge batteries in other FireWire devices.

|
| How do I enable S/PDIF mirroring in Pro Tools LE for the Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack? |
S/PDIF mirroring was not included in Pro Tools LE for the Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack.
S/PDIF mirroring routes the audio signal to the Main, Monitor and headphone outputs as well as the S/PDIF outputs. This routing is not automatic with the Digi 002 as it was with the Digi 001.
It is possible to mirror tracks on the SPDIF output by holding down the control key (mac) or the start key (win) and selecting S/PDIF L & R stereo. You will notice a "+" in the track's output selector now that you have assigned multiple routings. The output will now say Analog 1 & 2 stereo with a "+" sign: + Analog 1 & 2.
To change the outputs of all the audio and auxiliary tracks simultaneously, hold down the control and option key (mac) or the Start and Alt keys (win).
You can control the output level of these tracks by creating an additional Stereo Master fader for the SPDIF output. (File menu > New Track. Create a Stereo Master Fader. Set the output to S/PDIF L & R stereo).
This new Stereo Master fader will control the output going to the S/PDIF output on the Digi 002.

| My I/O labels keep changing when working with sessions of different sample rates. |
|
I/O setup is easiest to manage if all routings are defaulted upon each coarse sample rate resolution change.
