What version of Pro Tools is compatible with Avid Xpress Pro 5.0 HD and Media Composer Adrenaline 2.0 HD?
At the time of this writing, there is no version of Pro Tools which is compatible for co-installation with either of these applications. Digi 002 is not qualified as either a controller or audio I/O for either of these applications.

Avid Xpress Pro 5.0 HD and Avid Media Composer Adrenaline 2.0 HD were released in December, 2004. [Page View]

I intermittently hear random audio or the wrong audio played back with my AVoption|V10 systems on WinXP v6.4 and v6.4cs8.
When playing back a session, occasional pops or random audio could be heard. The problem could be exacerbated by using a high Hardware Buffer setting.

This has been fixed with the release of Pro Tools v6.4cs9 Mac TDM & LE, XP TDM & LE.

When I move the mouse, or when the hard disk is very busy, there is noise coming from my speakers.
The solution to this is to disable the NAP feature of the processor.
This is no mean feat however:

1) Install Apple X-Tools from the Mac OS installation CD-Rom.
2) Update X-Tools through software update.
3) Download and install "Chud Tools" 4.3.2 from www.apple.com
4) You'll now have an extra System Preference called Processor. (Apple Menu > System Preferences).
5) Inside the "Processor" System Preference panel, there's an option to disable "NAP". Unfortunately, this is on by default.

It is advisable to login as root and remove the "Developer" folder in the root of the system drive, to make things easier for users…

Firmware Download was unsuccessful.
Be sure that no anti-virus software is running. In some cases following these steps can result in a successful firmware download.

1) Launch Pro Tools, when prompted to download the firmware, click "later"
2) Create a 96kHz session.
3) Go to Setups>Playback Engine and set the HW Buffer size to 1024.
4) Quit Pro Tools and relaunch, this time when prompted to download the firmware, click "Download". [Page View]

A grey dialog box with no text appears upon booting Pro Tools v6.7 (after the pug-ins load). The box only contains an OK button, but clicking it does not generate a response. Hitting the return key closes/crashes Pro Tools.
This appears to be another symptom of a bad DC Harness with the Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack. In three instances, sending the customer a new DC Harness has proved to solve this particular error.

Below, however, is tech info from Avid site:

The Command|8 audio control surface made by Digidesign is ONLY supported with the PC x.5.1 releases of Newscutter, Xpress Pro and Media Composer Adrenaline. Previous releases- and the MAC versions are not supported. However the Command|8 is supported with the MAC versions Pro Tools only.

For information on setting this up in your Avid environment- please see the attached guide.

Here are some troubleshooting tips- and helpful hints for using this device:

*Make sure Command|8 or 002 are turned on before launching Avid application.

*USB hubs and extenders will not work with the Command|8

*If your faders intermittently jump or jitter there is a firmware upgrade on the Digidesign website to fix this issue. From www.digidesign.com navigate to Support then to Command|8.

*Faders are heat sensitive- writing automation with a blunt object could cause damage to the faders

*If you are not seeing the Command|8 showing up as a MIDI Controller is either Avid or Pro Tools, reloading the driver from the CD will usually fix this issue.

*If the Command|8 is displaying values late, more than likely the user has a USB hub- which is not supported, removing it will fix the issue.

*NOTE: The Command|8 must have another piece of Digidesign hardware in order to launch Pro- Tools such as 888, M-box or the 002.

*Be aware the 002 should not run on the same computer as Adrenaline- both use Firewire connections. Command|8 can run simultaneously because of it's USB connection.
