|
| What controller personality profile does the Yamaha Motiff 8 use for transport control within Pro Tools' peripherals, MIDI controllers option? |
The Motiff 8 uses the CS-10, a legacy controller. For those using Pro Tools v6.4 or higher it may be necessary to download these legacy controller from our website.
www.digidesign.com/download/controllers
Once the controller file is downloaded, you must manually install into the following locations:
Mac OS X:
Mac HD > Applications > Digidesign > Pro Tools > Controllers.
Windows XP:
My Computer > Local Disc (C:) > Program Files > Common Files > DAE > Controllers.

|
| DAE Errors 9092, 9093, or 9094, 9129 on Windows XP systems with dual core processors. |
These errors can be caused by problems with processor scheduling in dual core processors. The solution is to assign Pro Tools to run on a specific processor core.
To do this:
1. Launch Pro Tools, but do not create or open a session.
2. Right click on the Task Bar and select 'Task Manager'.
3. Click on the Processes tab, then right-click on ProToolsLE.exe and select 'Set Affinity' from the drop down menu.
4. Uncheck the box for CPU 0.
5. Click OK and close the Task Manager.
You will have to do this each time you launch Pro Tools unless you use and application like THG Task Assignment Tool.
More info on the THG Task Assignment Tool can be found here:

|
| Pro Tools session does not play back at the correct speed; it is playing back either faster or slower than it should (it is playing back at the wrong pitch; it is higher or lower than it should be). Or, Bounce to Disk results in a file that sounds slower or faster than the original session. |
This will happen as a result of having had Pro Tools clock off an external device which is set to a sample rate that is different from the sample rate of the Pro Tools session and then switching back to internal clock in Pro Tools. For example, you have a 44.1k Pro Tools session and you are clocking off an external device (e.g. an ADAT) that is set to 48k, your files will actually be recorded at 48k. In Pro Tools, if you then switch the Clock Source to Internal, the playback will sound slow.
The workaround is to do the following:
1. Create a new session at the correct sample rate, i.e. the sample rate that the external device was set to when Pro Tools was clocking to it. Make sure the new session is the same bit-depth (16 or 24) and file type (AIFF/BWF/SDII) as the original session.
2. In the new session, go to File>Import Session Data and open the original session.
3. In the Import Session Data window, in the Sample Rate Conversion Options section, uncheck the box next to "Apply SRC."
4. Highlight all the tracks you wish to import.
5. Click the "OK" button.
The new session will now playback at the correct speed.

|
| While launching, Pro Tools freezes when its splash screen gets to creating DAE Objects. A blank dialog with an "okay" button appears. Clicking okay, quits Pro Tools. |
Trashing all the Digidesign Databases folders on each drive may solve the problem. In addition, trash the Pro Tools preferences, update to the latest version of PACE drivers (from www.paceap.com) and if necessary uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools. If connecting to a G5, try a different firewire port on the mac.
