About Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 Software for Pro Tools|24 MIX
Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 is a free download for all Pro Tools|24 MIX owners that already own Pro Tools TDM version 6.0, 6.1.x, 6.2.x, or 6.4.1 for their MIX system. The installer can be used to update an existing Pro Tools TDM 6 installation, or Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 can be installed with no previous installation of Pro Tools.
Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 is the final Pro Tools software release for the Pro Tools|24 MIX product line. For Power Mac G4 OS X users, this release adds Panther support, and for both Mac OS X and Windows XP platforms, it contains a subset of the new features found in Pro Tools TDM 6.4 software for Pro Tools|HD systems, along with some Pro Tools|24 MIX-specific bug fixes.
Pro Tools 6.4.1 will only work with Pro Tools MIX hardware installed.
System Requirements
- Digidesign-approved Pro Tools|24 MIX system on a qualified Windows desktop or Power Mac G4 AGP computer
- System Software: Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or Windows XP Professional or Home Edition
- Pro Tools|24 MIX systems are not compatible with the Power Mac G5
- Pro Tools|24 MIX systems are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Downloads
Your Pro Tools TDM version 6.0, 6.1.x, 6.2.x, or 6.4.1 authorization code beginning with "DIGI06" is required to download, install, and authorize these updates. Your authorization code can be found in one of the following locations:
- Inside the front cover of your Pro Tools 6.x Getting Started with MIX Guide
- Inside the front cover of your Upgrading to Pro Tools 6.x or What's New in Pro Tools 6.x booklet included with updates and upgrades
- On your DigiStore receipt or DigiStore order history (in the "your account" section) if you purchased a Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 for MIX downloadable upgrade for either Mac or Windows.
Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 Software Q&A
Mac & Windows Systems
Q: Are AVoption®|XL or AVoption|V10 supported with Pro Tools 6.4.1?
A: No. Only QuickTime is supported on Pro Tools 6.4.1.
Q: Does Pro Tools 6.4.1 software support Pro Tools|24 MIX systems that use the Pro Tools|24 Core card?
A: "Hybrid" configurations which use the original Pro Tools|24 d24 card in combination with a MIX card have not been tested, and therefore are not supported. However, we have no reason to believe that it will not work.
Q: Will my SYNC I/O or USD work with Pro Tools 6.4.1?
A: Yes. Both devices are supported with 6.4.1, although you may need to update your firmware. The Pro Tools 6.4.1 installer applicaton on the web installers and the 6.4.1 CDs includes the current firmware for both the SYNC I/O and USD. The firmware for both is installed in the Digidesign\Pro Tools\ Pro Tools Utilities folder.
Mac Systems Only
Q: Is Pro Tools 6.4.1 software with Pro Tools|24 MIX supported on the Power Mac G5?
A: No. Pro Tools|24 MIX systems are not supported on the Power Mac G5. Pro Tools|24 MIX systems are not compatible with Apple Power Mac G5s due to disparities between the older and newer CPU technologies.
Q: Currently, I use Pro Tools TDM 6.1 with AVoption|XL and Pro Tools|24 MIX with Mac OS X 10.2.x ("Jaguar"). Since Pro Tools 6.4.1 software doesn’t support Avid video, is there a Mac OS X 10.3.x

Important Information About Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 Plug-In Updates
Except where noted, plug-ins on this page are included on the Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 CDs. In order to greatly reduce the size of the web downloads, these optional plug-ins are NOT INCLUDED with the Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 application installer downloads. All Digidesign and Digi-distributed plug-ins must be updated in order to work with Pro Tools 6.4.1 for MIX Systems.
Plug-In Information and links to downloads from other developers can be found in the Pro Tools Plug-Ins section of the website. Please be aware that not all versions for Pro Tools 6.x will work with MIX systems, and may require the versions listed on this page specifically for MIX systems.
System Compatibility
- These plug-ins will work on Pro Tools|24 MIX systems with Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 installed.
- The following plug-ins require an iLok authorization, and iLok drivers. The iLok drivers are installed by the Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 installers.

- Put a check mark in the box next to "Machine Control "
- Follow the prompts in installer application
MP3 Option for Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1
The update for MP3 Option owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 6.4.1 CD:
- Double-click on the "Install Pro Tools" application
- Put a check mark in the box next to "Update MP3 Codec" on Windows, or "MP3 Codec 1.3 Update" on Mac
- Follow the prompts in the installer application
The next time in Pro Tools that you select a portion of audio in a session and choose to bounce to disk and export as MP3 audio, you will be prompted for your authorization code from your MP3 Option receipt from the DigiStore. (if you have previously authorized MP3 Option on your hard drive, you may not be prompted to re-authorize)
If you run into installation problems, you may have to delete ALL files from your Codecs/MP3 folder, then run the installer again. The MP3demo.dll file and the MP3.dll file cannot both be in the Codecs/MP3 folder. You may also need to update to the latest version of the PACE InterLok drivers
MP3 Option is available for purchase from the DigiStore. If you do not own MP3 Option, you can try the 30 day demo version available from the Pro Tools installer.

The following control surfaces were not tested with Pro Tools 6.4.1, and therefore are not officially supported. The Pro Tools TDM 6.4.1 CDs for MIX systems contain an "Unsupported Software" folder with the following control surface personality files:

To use these files, download and place the personality file for your MIDI Controller in the following location:
