| DAE error -9113 when launching Pro Tools LE on Windows 98 or Windows ME. |
This error occurs if the WIN 98 WaveDriver is not installed, is disabled, or is installed incorrectly. Resources must be assigned to the hardware before Pro Tools is installed. Therefore, it is imperative that you follow the installation procedure documented in Chapter 3 (specifically, pages 18 and 19) of the Digi 001 or Toolbox XP Quick Start Guides.
These guides are available for download at http://www.digidesign.com and are shipped with their respective products.

|
| After installing an AudioMedia III (AMIII) the PC posts a warning dialog of a resource conflict: error 0251 system CMOS check sum bad. |
If you encounter this problem contact Tech Support. The AMIII card may be damaged.
In this case the system appears to have available resources. The WaveDriver posts the error upon installation: " The device driver was not written for this device do you want to continue?"
Then the device shows up in the device manager under sound video and game controllers as a Digidesign Audio Media III with a yellow exclamation point.
The WaveDriver does not recognize the card but the user is prompted to install the driver so it shows up under sound video and game controllers but really is an "unknown device" No matter what slot the AMIII
is in it causes the system at the BIOS level to report a bus error.

|
| How do I get the WaveDriver to install If I installed it with the add new hardware control panel. |
There are two ways:
1) Remove your Digi 001 or Audiomedia III from the Device Manager, and then delete the digidesigndalwdm.inf file in directory path of C:\Windows\inf\other\digidesigndalwdm.inf
Then restart the computer. After the computer restarts, windows will detect the Digi hardware again. After Windows detects the hardware, choose specify location and browse to the folder where the WaveDriver is on the Pro Tools disc.
2) You can also use the update driver option under the driver tab for the Digi 001\Audiomedia III in Device Manager. (This will only work if the user had installed using the add new hardware control panel to install the driver).

AM III causes Compaq Presario to crash on boot
|
| AM III causes Compaq Presario to crash on boot |
One user found the AM III card to conflict with the Ethernet card and the USB bus on the Compaq Presario motherboard. (The modem and display did not seem to cause any conflict).
One workaround is to create a separate hardware profile for an "audio setup" and disable the Ethernet and USB drivers for that profile. (You would need to be careful not to use the WAV driver for the default sound card, though. Because this driver can't be disabled for certain hardware profiles, booting to a profile with the Ethernet and USB enabled would cause the computer to crash at the first sound.)
A more permanent solution is to get the AM III to use another IRQ altogether. Unfortunately, the Compaq Presario BIOS doesn't allow any configuring of IRQs for PCI cards. However by disabling the IRQ tables for IRQ steering, it is possible to get the Compaq to put the AM III card on its own IRQ. After the IRQ that AM III uses is changed, the WAV driver needs to be reinstalled.
