Why am I getting a -6093 error during playback in Pro Tools LE 6.1 with my Digi 002 mixer?
In one case, a customer had skipped the firmware download that is requested the first time Pro Tools LE 6.1 is launched.

Note that the firmware download does not require a connection to the internet.

I have a Digi 002 and/or Digi 002 Rack and I am getting -6085 errors when recording to a Firewire hard drive with a new G4 (FW 800) Macintosh.
This is a known issue if using any of the 3 built-in Firewire ports on the FW 800 Macintosh. To record, either:

a) Use a supported internal IDE/ATA hard drive

b) Use a FW card. The supported Firewire cards are as follows:

--ADS Pyro 1394
--Swann Mac FireWire Card
--Adaptec FireConnect

The Digi 002 and Digi 002 Rack should still be connected to the FW400 ports on a G4 (FW800) Macintosh. [Page View]

reboot your system and delete the Preferences from the system's preferences folder.

- DigiSetup
- (entire folder) DAE Prefs
- Pro Tools vX.X prefences

This can occur if you relaunch Pro Tools too quickly after shutting down. You should wait until disk activity has stopped (or wait a few seconds) after quitting Pro Tools, before relaunching Pro Tools.

One of the last thing Pro Tools does when quitting, is to SAVE the preferences. If you (re-)launch Pro Tools, one of the first things it will do is READ these preferences. If these two processes occur simultaneously, the system will not allow either process to complete. [Page View]

Getting distortion during playback and record with Mbox on a Windows (XP) ...

Getting distortion during playback and record with Mbox on a Windows (XP) PC.
In one case, the user, had the Line Output (TRS) of the Mbox connected to the Sound Blaster card inputs on his PC, so he could play Pro Tools from the speakers on his computer. This connection created the distortion. Once the cables were removed from the Mbox to the PC, record and playback were distortion free.

Thus, speakers or headphones must be connected directly to Mbox for playback and recording.

When I boot my computer and run Pro Tools, the Mbox appears to be working but it is not playing any audio. The USB light is on and Pro Tools looks like it is playing as the transport is moving and I see levels in the meters.
Workaround is to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in. Reports are that this only occurs after a CPU bootup.

DAE error -9128 when trying to use D-Verb plug-in even though my CPU should not be overloaded. Also the CPU meter is up around 90% but I am not using many plug-ins.
There is currently a problem affecting D-Verb especially when using certain Algorithm settings. Room 2 suffers from this problem, although other algorithms could be affected as well. This problem is more common on Pentium 4 processors.

Workarounds:
1) Use a different Algorithm (e.g. Hall).
2) Insert a plug-in (e.g. POWr Dither) before the D-Verb.

Loud random noise bursts can occur during playback and record in Pro Tools ...

Loud random noise bursts can occur during playback and record in Pro Tools LE 6.0 with Waves 4.0 RTAS Plug-Ins.
This has been seen with the Waves 4.0 Rvox plug-in, possibly others.

Go to www.waves.com and hit "Downloads". Under the "Quick links" section hit "Updates" and download "Wave-Shell DAE 4.0.1 x".
2. Go to: HD>Library>Application support>Digidesign>Plug-ins – trash the current Wave-Shell 4.0_x and replace it with the new one (Wave-Shell DAE 4.0.1 x).

WaveShell-DAE 4.0.1_X fixes problems, such as loud noise bursts, occurring when issuing Play/Stop commands. If you are using Pro-Tools TDM/LE 6.0 or higher, it is highly recommended to use this WaveShell.
Installation: Go to Digidedign’s Plug-Ins folder (Your Hard Disk / Library/ Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins), trash WaveShell DAE 4.0_X and replace it with WaveShell-DAE 4.0.1_X.

DAE error -6031 can occur when using RTAS Plug-Ins with SYNC I/O as clock master.
This is a known issue in Pro Tools 6.1, and is fixed in 6.4.

As a workaround a new DAE was developed to overcome this problem. Install DAE v.6.1cs1 (available on the 6.1 CD in the Additional Files/Beta Software folder, or as a download from http://www.digidesign.com/download/daedsi/). [Page View]
