Digidesign CoreAudio Driver for Systems with Pro Tools v7.x for Mac OS X


Pro Tools HD 7 and Pro Tools LE 7 all include the option to install the correct Digidesign CoreAudio Driver for each version of Pro Tools during Pro Tools installation. That option is checked by default on all Pro Tools 7 installation disks and web installers.

Please Note: Pro Tools HD 7.2.1 users on Mac Pro will need to download the following update:

About Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers
The Digidesign CoreAudio Driver is a multi-client, multichannel sound driver that allows CoreAudio-compatible applications to record and play back through the following Digidesign hardware:
  • Pro Tools|HD audio interfaces
  • 003
  • 003 Rack
  • Digi 002
  • Digi 002 Rack
  • Mbox 2 Pro
  • Mbox 2
  • Mbox 2 Mini
  • Mbox 2 Micro (playback only)
  • Mbox

Mbox 2-Series CoreAudio Drivers
  • The Mbox 2 Pro, Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Mini, and Mbox 2 Micro audio interfaces do not use the Digidesign CoreAudio Manager. Instead these devices are configured using the "Audio MIDI Setup" application in your Applications/Utilities folder, and the "Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro" or "Digidesign Mbox 2" (for Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Mini, Mbox 2 Micro) preference panes in your System Preferences. If you do not use an Mbox 2 Family interface on your Mac, you can safely delete the Mbox 2 or Mbox 2 Pro preference pane by right-clicking or Control-clicking on the icon, and choosing "Remove....Preference Pane".

Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Drivers 7.4 & 7.4.2 — For Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs

Only for Owners of Supported Digidesign Hardware on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or 10.5 (Leopard) That Do Not Have Pro Tools Installed. Pro Tools 7.x users should NOT download the Standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Driver installer.
