Pro Tools 8
Installing third party plug-ins on a system that has Pro Tools 8 on it may downgrade the PACE InterLok drivers.
  • Upon launch, Pro Tools will show a dialog stating that you need a newer version of the InterLok drivers and will not allow Pro Tools to launch.
To resolve this issue, download and install the current version of the drivers:

TC Electronic
The following TC Electronic TDM plug-ins are not compatible with Pro Tools HD 8 on Windows Vista:
  • MD3 Stereo Mastering - Brickwall Limiter
  • DVR2
  • NonLin2
  • Unwrap
Updates from TC Electronic for Pro Tools HD 8 on Vista are expected (already compatible with Pro Tools HD 7 and 8 on XP).

New Version 8 Plug-ins With No Authorization
The following version 8.x plug-ins are automatically installed during Pro Tools 8 installation as free plug-ins that do not require iLok authorization.
  • D-Fi bundle (LoFi, RectiFi, SciFi, VariFi)
  • Maxim
  • SansAmp PSA-1
  • TL AutoPan
  • TL Utilities (TL InTune, TL MasterMeter, TL Metro)
These plug-ins can also be used with Pro Tools HD, LE, and M-Powered v7.3.1, 7.4, and 7.4.2 systems, and require no iLok authorization to use on either Pro Tools 7 or 8 systems.
  • Although you may be able to use these v8 plug-ins on Pro Tools 7.0 through 7.3.0 systems, they have only been qualified by Digidesign with Pro Tools 7.3.1 and higher.
  • Plug-ins listed as plug-in version 7.x and lower of each of these plug-ins requires authorization either by iLok license or authorzation code.

Waves Issue In Pro Tools 8
Note: This issue is resolved with Waves 7 and Pro Tools 8.0.3.

When launching Pro Tools, the Waves dialog "Where is the Waves Plug-Ins folder?" may pop up behind the Pro Tools splash screen and may become inactive after bringing it to the foreground.

To solve this issue:
1. Right click on Waves Plug-ins folder and make Alias
2. Rename created "Alias to Waves Plugins" (capitalization is very important) to : Waves Plugins
3. Copy alias (to clipboard)
4. Go to ~/Users/Current User/Library/Preferences/
5. Create new folder and name it Waves Preferences
6. Paste Waves Plugins alias(from clipboard) into created folder (Waves Preferences)
7. Delete alias that you created in step 2
8. Start Pro Tools
