Pro Tools 7.0/7.1 Optional Software & Additional CD Files |
Information on installation of optional software and downloads of additional files from the Pro Tools 7.0/7.1 CDs that are not included with the Pro Tools 7.0 web installers and 7.1 web updates.
DigiTranslator 2.0 for Pro Tools HD 7 and Pro Tools LE 7
The update for DigiTranslator 2.0 owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools HD or LE Web Installer or the Pro Tools HD or LE CD:
- Run the Pro Tools HD or LE 7 installer application
- Put a check mark in the box next to "DigiTranslator"
- Follow the prompts in the installer application

DV Toolkit for Pro Tools LE 7.0
The update for owners of the original DV Toolkit is installed during Pro Tools LE 7 installation, either from the Pro Tools LE 7 Web Installer or the Pro Tools LE 7 CD:
- Run the Pro Tools LE 7 installer application
- Put a check mark in the box next to "DV Toolkit"
- Follow the prompts in the installer application

DV Toolkit is not supported with Pro Tools LE 7.1 and higher. Upgrades from DV Toolkit to DV Toolkit 2 are available from the DigiStore, in the Optional Software or Digidesign Software category.
MachineControl for Pro Tools HD 7
The update for MachineControl owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools HD 7 Web Installer or the Pro Tools HD 7 CD:
- Run the Pro Tools HD 7 installer application
- Put a check mark in the box next to "MachineControl"
- Follow the prompts in the installer application
MP3 Option for Pro Tools HD, LE, or M-Powered Version 7
The update for MP3 Option owners is installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 7 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 7 CD:
- Run the Pro Tools 7 HD, LE, or M-Powered installer application
- Put a check mark in the box next to "MP3 Codec Update"
- Follow the prompts in the installer application
On Mac OS X Only: If you do not have a previous version of the MP3 codec in your codecs folder, you may need to do the following:
- Run the Pro Tools 7 HD, LE, or M-Powered installer application again
- Put a check mark ONLY in the box next to "MP3 Codec Update"
- Uncheck ALL other check boxes, including the Pro Tools check box
- Follow the prompts in the installer application
Installing the MP3 Codec Demo first, then installing the MP3 Codec Update also works.
ATTO Utilities for Pro Tools 7
Firmware updates and drivers for SCSI|128/ATTO UL3D for use with Pro Tools 7. Available in the Additional Files folder on the Pro Tools HD 7 installation CD, or here:
SYNC I/O Firmware Version 1.1.1 Requirement
Pro Tools TDM 6.9.x and Pro Tools 7 requires that you update your SYNC I/O firmware to run Pro Tools.
When Pro Tools is installed, new firmware for the SYNC I/O is automatically installed in the Pro Tools Utilities folder within the Digidesign folder. When you launch Pro Tools for the first time, you will be prompted to update your SYNC I/O firmware. Firmware Version 1.1.1 is also available here:
Command|8 Control Surface
The drivers for the Command|8 control surface are installed during Pro Tools installation, either from the Pro Tools 7 Web Installer or the Pro Tools 7 CD:
- Run the Pro Tools 7 HD, LE, or M-Powered installer application
- On Windows XP, put a check mark in the box next to "Command 8 Controller and Driver"
- On Mac OS X, the Command|8 software is installed by default when installing the Pro Tools application software
- Follow the prompts in the installer application
Legacy MIDI Controllers for Pro Tools HD & LE 7
The following control surfaces were not tested with Pro Tools 7, and therefore are not officially supported. The Pro Tools HD 7 and Pro Tools LE 7 CDs contain an "Unsupported Software" folder in the Additional Files folder with the following control surface personality files:
- JL Cooper CS-10 MIDI series
- JL Cooper MCS 3000 series MCS-Panner
- Peavy PC-1600

Mbox 2 Beta Firmware & Driver Update Kit v1.38
We have identified a problem with some aluminum PowerBook G4 models that may not provide sufficient power from one or both of the built-in USB ports to establish or maintain communication with the Mbox 2, especially when phantom power is used. A beta Firmware Update for some PowerBook G4 models with this problem is available on the Pro Tools LE 7 CD in the "Additional Files" folder and the Mbox 2 downloads page linked here:

Additional Files Not Included With Pro Tools LE 7 CDs
Mbox Firmware Update Rev 20 OS X
This software will update your Mbox firmware to version 20, released in August 2002 and still the current Mbox firmware version. Firmware v20 is required to use the original Mbox (not Mbox 2) on Mac OS X. In most cases, your Mbox will have firmware 20 already, in which case the Firmware update will report that no changes have been made. To download the update and instructions, see the following page:
